논문내용 The horror game genre called 'Mascot Horror' started in 2014 and is developing and growing until 2023. The purpose of this study is to find out the difference between the 'Mascot Horror' genre and the existing horror game through the attractiveness and horror elements of character design. Through the 'Uncanny' theory and previous research cases of character design elements, it was analyzed by dividing them into exterior and inner self design. In the exterior design, it was analyzed based on the criteria of texture, shape, and color. Through the analysis, exterior design elements such as the body shape of the two-legged walk, the presence or absence of accessories, and the emphasis on body parts were extracted. In the inner self design, it was analyzed based on the behavior, movement, and mascot background. Through the analysis, the elements of secret movements and indirect threats, the behavior of attacking in earnest in the second half, unnatural movements different from humans, the perception of players, the aggression in the game and the mascot background were extracted. In addition, it was found that 'Uncanny' applies more to the inner self design than the exterior design. Through this, a total of eight elements were derived that are the charm and fear elements of the character of 'Mascot Horror' and are characteristics that give it a differentiation from the existing horror game. Through the results of this study, it was possible to present the criteria for content development and analysis of the mascot horror genre. It is expected to be able to grasp the definition of mascot horror and the character design elements necessary for it.
