논문내용 In this paper presents an immersive safety training system which users to prevent safety accidents in a chemical laboratory setting. The chemical laboratory is places of experimentation and exploration, but workers are exposed to the high possibility of accidents because high-hazard compounds are processed and treated. Due to the highly hazardous chemical lab environment, it is not easy to run laboratory safety training. This proposed virtual reality safety training system provided a highly immersive and safe place for users to learn how to handle high-hazard materials and laboratory incident response procedures in case of an accident. The evaluation test was conducted on 34 users in the related field to investigate the usefulness of the virtual safety training system. As a result, the proposed system received a relatively high score, in particular, the immersion was very high (mean of learning satisfaction : 4.19, mean of usability : 4.22, mean of immersion : 4.71). Even with increased interest and production of virtual reality based safety training contents, only the limited number of studies examined its effectiveness. Therefore, this study suggests prospects and possibilities to implement effective use of a virtual safety training system as an immersive media.
